Job Vacancy: Afterschool Club Centre Manager

Raising Explorers are looking for a passionate Manager to join its rapidly expanding Afterschool Club Centre in Bradford.

You are required to work Monday to Friday all year round, 3.30pm-7.30pm. (Please note hours and days are negotiable and flexible for the right candidate) – In our warm and friendly learning focused Afterschool Club, we now require an experienced Centre Manager to maintain and continue the development of our provision. Working closely with the already experienced Management Team, your core role will be to ensure all services are run to a very high standard. You are required to hold a minimum NVQ Level 3 qualification in Childcare or equivalent and sound experience of working with children.

Job Description for Afterschool Club Centre Manager

Reports to: Project Manager and Finance Manager

Responsible for: The day-to-day running and management of the centres core services. To take specific responsibility for the management, organisation and running of the After School Club, to ensure that parents, carers and children are provided with a high quality childcare service which meets the requirements of Ofsted guidelines.

Main Purpose: To work alongside the project manager to recruit parents, maintain and progress standards, keep financial, children and staff records up to date.  Maintain a caring and stimulating environment for children that take into account individual development needs and enables children to reach their full potential.

Main Activities:

  • To manage and organise the After School Club.
  • To work within the Children Act 1989 and ensure that local standards and guidelines are adhered to.
  • General staff management, appraisals, training and development of the team.
  • To plan and prepare exciting play opportunities that meet the children’s developmental needs and stimulate their learning.
  • To ensure all policies are kept up to date and adhered to.
  • To establish and maintain positive relationships with children and their families in a way that values parental involvement.
  • To observe and assess children’s development and keep accurate records of their achievements.
  • To provide a service that respects children’s life experiences and celebrates diversity in terms of language, culture, ability, race and religion.
  • To assist in reviewing and implementing policies and procedures of the setting to ensure equality of access for children and families.
  • To be responsible for the setting resources and report loss/damage or low stock levels to the relevant staff.
  • To manage the planning and organisation of holiday play schemes.
  • To carry out the duties and responsibilities of the post with regard to the Equal Opportunities Policy.
  • To act as an ambassador for the organisation and maintain a positive image of its aims and work.
  • To carry out any other duties which will be seen to enhance the work of the organisation.

Person Specification for F/T Out Of School Club Manager

Experience:

  • You should have experience of working with children in the 5-15 years age range.
  • 5+ years experience of working in a similar type role
  • Creating innovative methods in their work and teaching
  • Exceptional teaching skills and experience
  • Passionate about raising achievement and providing the best possible academic and Islamic education for our children
  • Ability to achieve targets
  • Ability to work on own initiative and identify new opportunities
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Understanding the varied needs of children and families
  • Ability to work as a team member and demonstrate leadership skills
  • Excellent communication skills together with sufficient understanding and use of English
  • Ability to work on own initiative, using judgement and common sense
  • Self-motivated, organised and professional.
  • Portray a positive attitude.

Qualifications or Training: Applicants are required to hold a relevant NVQ3 qualification.  A PGCE or any other teaching qualification is desirable.

Desirable but not essential qualities:

  • Ability to use IT based resources.
  • Good education sense.

  • NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Children’s and Young People’s workforce
  • PGCE
  • Teaching: 2+ years
  • Management of people: 5+ years
