At Raising Explorers, we believe in fostering a love for reading from a young age. So, when World Book Day came around on Thursday, 7th March, our After-School Club transformed into a realm of imagination and creativity. We invited both children and staff to join us in celebrating this event by dressing up as their favourite book characters to encourage and promote the joy of reading for pleasure.
The centre buzzed with energy as our children and staff arrived dressed up as a range of incredible characters. From the iconic Mario to the adventurous Spiderman and numerous dazzling princesses, the diversity of costumes truly reflected the vast world of story-telling. It was heart-warming to see our children transforming into their favourite characters and eagerly explaining who they were dressed as.
Additionally, as part of our World Book Day festivities, our children brought in their favourite books to share with their classmates.
They excitedly explained the stories they had chosen, why they chose their characters, and why these books hold a special place in their hearts. This interactive session not only encouraged communication and creativity but also instilled a sense of pride in their literary choices. Beyond sharing stories, our young explorers also had a blast capturing memories through photos and creating fun TikToks
To add to the excitement, we organised a best-dressed competition! The judging round was a tough one, as every participant had put immense effort into their costumes. However, after lots of discussion, we crowned the top three best-dressed children, who were rewarded with special prizes.
