Ramadan is always a special time at Raising Explorers – a month filled with reflection, generosity, and spiritual growth. This year, our team went above and beyond to make sure every child who walked through our doors felt the warmth and beauty of this blessed month.
Our reception area and classrooms were transformed with stunning Ramadan decorations, lovingly prepared by our incredible staff. The goal? To create an environment where the spirit of Ramadan could be felt in every corner, bringing smiles to the faces of our children as they entered the centre each day.
A Ramadan Transformation in our Madrassah Service
Our Madrassah underwent a transformation for the month. Not only were the rooms adorned with Ramadan-themed decorations, but the entire curriculum shifted focus to embrace the values, lessons, and importance of this sacred time. Every child took part in learning:
- A daily dua to strengthen their connection with Allah
- A daily hadeeth to inspire good character
- One new fiqh rule each day related to Ramadan
- And so much more to nurture their spiritual journey
This allowed our students to not only understand Ramadan on a deeper level but also develop a stronger spiritual connection with their faith. We also made sure the spirit of Ramadan extended beyond the walls of our centre. Daily reminders were sent out to the Raising Explorers community, helping families make the most of this special time together.
A Gift for Our Community – Medjoul Dates from The Date Project
To share the blessings of Ramadan even further, we were delighted to gift all our parents, children, and staff with a free Medjoul date box from The Date Project. These beautiful boxes were a small token of appreciation and love for our incredible Raising Explorers family. Dates hold a special place in Ramadan, being the Sunnah food to break fast with. By gifting these boxes, we hoped to strengthen the bond within our community and remind everyone of the shared blessings of this sacred time.
Fundraising for Yemen: A Bake Sale with a Purpose
Ramadan is the best time to give in charity, and this year, we held a special bake sale to raise vital funds for orphans in Yemen. The response from our community was overwhelming!
From gooey brownies and freshly baked cookies to fluffy cakes and mini pizzas, there was a treat for every iftar craving. The bake sale was a massive success, raising an incredible £634.21 in just one day!
A heartfelt thank you goes out to all our children, parents, and staff – and a special shoutout to Sister Saima, her family and friends, and Cupcake Cravings for organising and supporting this amazing event.
Raising Explorers has proudly partnered with Human Appeal, aiming to raise £90,000 to build a semi-automatic bakery in Sana’a, Yemen. This bakery will produce 10,800 loaves of bread daily, feeding 1,200 orphans for two whole years – a truly life-changing project in a region devastated by years of conflict.
Our Yemen Project is still ongoing, and we welcome continued support.

Spreading Smiles – Eid Cards for the Vulnerable
As part of our efforts to spread love and kindness during the holy month, our Little Explorers got busy with stencils, sequins, glitter and more to design beautiful Ramadan and Eid cards.
These heartfelt cards were created for vulnerable people and adults with learning disabilities as part of a special initiative supported by Bradford Council. The children poured their creativity and love into each card, adding personal messages, bright colours, and joyful decorations to bring a smile to someone else’s face.
It was an incredible opportunity to teach empathy, kindness, and the importance of community service, and we couldn’t be prouder of the effort our children put into every single card.
World Book Day in Ramadan
This year, World Book Day fell during Ramadan, and it brought even more joy and excitement to the centre! The children arrived dressed as their favourite characters from books and animated stories – from Harry Potter and majestic dragons, to Luigi from Super Mario, Paw Patrol heroes, and even Charmander from Pokémon!
The centre buzzed with colour, laughter, and imagination. After a cheerful costume parade, children gathered in groups to share their favourite books and characters, sparking wonderful conversations and storytelling moments. It was a magical day that reminded us all of the power of books to inspire, entertain, and connect.
As Ramadan Comes to a Close…
As the blessed month has now ended, we reflect on everything we experienced together—spiritual learning, joyful celebration, and heartfelt giving. We’re so proud of what we achieved as a community and so grateful for your support.
We pray that all our children, families, and staff made the most of Ramadan and had a beautiful Eid filled with love, happiness, and barakah.
Please keep Raising Explorers in your duas, and may Allah accept all our efforts, prayers, and charity.
