April has been a blockbuster month at Raising Explorers, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to share everything that’s made it one to remember — from jam-packed days of holiday fun across all our Bradford and Leeds branches, to incredible recognition on the national stage. So, buckle up as we take you through all the magic April had to offer…
Creative Chaos & Colourful Crafts
If April had a soundtrack, it would be the sound of scissors snipping, paintbrushes swirling, and children giggling as they brought their imaginations to life.
From hot air balloon crafts floating through imaginary skies, to bug masks that had everyone buzzing, and pom-pom llamas that stole hearts — our children created an entire universe from glue, paper, and pure creativity.
Non-Stop Action: Games, Sports & High Energy Fun
If you thought the fun was limited to crafts, think again! April at Raising Explorers meant one thing: movement, movement, and more movement. From wild games of dodgeball that had everyone ducking and diving, to sunny afternoons spent running around at our local parks — our young athletes truly gave it their all. Whether it was chasing after a football, mastering playground challenges, or simply enjoying games of tag with friends, the smiles said it all — our children were having an absolute blast.
Bowling Bonanza & Big Screen Memories
Ask our explorers what one of their favourite moments was this month, and many will shout: “Bowling!” There’s something special about choosing the perfect ball and trying for that strike — especially when it’s shared with friends.
After the action came relaxation, as our children settled into cinema seats with popcorn in hand for a special movie treat.
Blast Off to the National Media Museum! 🪐
Our love for discovery doesn’t stop at our doorstep. This month, our children went on an epic trip to the Science Media Museum in Bradford — and it was out of this world!
The children were amazed by the huge models of the sun and moon and loved learning all about space and our solar system. They had a blast walking through the mirror maze, which had everyone guessing which way to go! From exploring interactive science games to discovering how things work through hands-on fun, the museum was a perfect mix of learning and play.
STEM Stars: Build-Your-Own Robot Hands 🤖
Meanwhile, our +9 boys took on a STEM challenge like no other — building DIY robot hands that could actually move and grip objects!
With straws, string, tape, and a whole lot of determination, they created mechanical fingers that moved just like real ones. Who knew Raising Explorers could be home to the next generation of inventors?
Dessert Days & Kitchen Creations
What’s a holiday club without a sprinkle of sweetness? At Raising Explorers, our kitchen transformed into a lively mini-bakery where the irresistible smell of chocolate, cookies, and creativity filled the air. With aprons on and sleeves rolled up, our young chefs got hands-on whipping up a trio of delicious delights that were as fun to make as they were to taste.
Kunafa Chocolate
Our budding bakers took inspiration from Middle Eastern traditions to create a modern twist on a classic treat. As the children assembled their treats, they learned how to balance flavours and textures, getting a taste of global cuisines and culinary creativity all at once.
Oreo Cake Pops
Next up: an Oreo lover’s dream come true! The kitchen buzzed with creativity as everyone put their own personal spin on their cake pops — some were glittery, some were minimalist, but every single one was a masterpiece. And of course, a few “taste tests” along the way were absolutely essential!
Cookie Dough & Ice Cream
For the grand finale, the children unleashed their inner dessert designers by making their own cookie dough and ice cream combinations.
