Fourteen years of learning, growing and making a difference
Can you believe that Raising Explorers has been supporting children and families since 2012? What began as a small centre in Bradford has grown into something far greater than we could have imagined. Fourteen years later, we are proud to look back on our journey, celebrate how far we have come and, most importantly, thank the wonderful community that has grown alongside us.
Our journey has been filled with change, challenges, achievements and countless special memories. While the world around us has changed considerably since we first opened our doors, one thing has remained constant: our commitment to supporting children, empowering families and providing a safe, welcoming environment where every young explorer can thrive.
From One Classroom to a Growing Community
When Raising Explorers first opened its doors in 2012, we started with just one classroom, a small group of around 5–10 children and six incredible volunteer staff members. Those early days were built on determination, hard work and a shared belief in the difference we could make in our community.
Within six months, we had expanded into four additional rooms and an office. What followed was a journey of continuous growth, with new spaces, new services and new opportunities to support even more children and families.
Today, Raising Explorers looks very different from those humble beginnings. From our original Bradford centre to our expanding network of locations, we have continued to grow in response to the needs of the families we serve. Our facilities, team and services have developed significantly over the years, but the heart behind everything we do remains the same.
Looking back, it is incredible to see just how far we have travelled. Every new classroom, every new member of staff and every child who has walked through our doors represents another chapter in our story.
And we are only getting started.
Growing Beyond Bradford: Bringing Childcare to More Families
One of the biggest milestones in our journey has been the expansion of Raising Explorers beyond our original centre.
Over the years, we have grown into different parts of Bradford and expanded into Leeds and Rochdale, with Halifax on the horizon. Each new location represents another opportunity to support working parents, provide quality childcare and create welcoming spaces where children can learn, develop and build lasting friendships.
Our vision has always extended beyond a single building. We want to make a meaningful difference to families by helping them balance the demands of work and family life while ensuring their children have access to enriching, supportive environments.
As the needs of families continue to change, we recognise the importance of evolving alongside them. Our expansion reflects our ongoing ambition to make our services accessible to more communities across the UK, bringing the Raising Explorers approach to even more children and parents.
Every new opening is a reminder of why we started in the first place: to support families and help children reach their full potential.
Welcoming Our Youngest Explorers
Another exciting chapter in our story has been the opening of our two nurseries in Manningham and Listerhills.
We know that the early years of a child’s life are incredibly important. They are filled with first experiences, new discoveries and little moments that lay the foundations for future learning and development. We wanted to create spaces that reflect just how special these years are.
Our nurseries have been designed with our youngest explorers in mind, offering welcoming environments where children can feel safe, supported and encouraged to discover the world around them.
From our cosy playrooms, where little imaginations can flourish, to our sensory rooms, which provide opportunities for exploration and calm, every space has been developed with children’s needs in mind. Our babyproof outdoor play area also gives little ones the opportunity to enjoy fresh air, explore their surroundings and develop through play in a safe environment.
Opening these nurseries has been about more than expanding our services. It has been about extending our care to younger children and giving families the reassurance that their little ones are in an environment where their happiness, safety and development matter.
As we continue to improve our facilities and introduce new ideas, our aim remains simple: to give every child the best possible start.
The Heart of Raising Explorers: Our Community
Although so much has changed over the past fourteen years, there is one thing we are especially grateful to say has remained constant: the support of our parents and community.
Raising Explorers would not be where it is today without the families who have trusted us with their children, the staff who dedicate themselves to making a difference and the wider community that has supported us throughout our journey.
To the parents who chose us fourteen years ago, those who joined us along the way and the families who continue to walk through our doors today, thank you for being part of our story.
Your trust means more to us than words can express. We understand the responsibility that comes with caring for your children, and we never take that trust for granted. Every recommendation, every kind word, every piece of feedback and every family that returns to us reminds us why our work matters.
We have had the privilege of watching children grow up in our care, celebrate achievements, develop new skills and move on to exciting new chapters in their lives. Some children who once joined us as little explorers have grown into teenagers, carrying years of memories and experiences with them.
These relationships are what make Raising Explorers more than just a childcare and education provider. They make us a community.
We are equally grateful to our incredible staff, past and present, whose hard work, patience and dedication have helped shape the organisation into what it is today. From those six volunteers who helped establish the centre in its earliest days to the team members who continue to support our growing network, every contribution has played a part in our journey.
Fourteen years of progress would not have been possible without the people behind it.
